Mike Mike is twenty six and has a learning disability. He lived with Family Living Providers Lizzie and John, and their children who are 10 and 12 years old, for five years now. Mike has his own room, where he can choose to invite his friends, watch films or have some privacy. At meal times they eat together as a family and Mike always helps prepare Sunday lunch. Through the week, Mike goes to college and a day centre, and in the evenings the family may go out to the cinema, bowling or to see friends and relatives. At the weekends Mike likes to go swimming or
to the Mencap drop-in Centre. One weekend a month he goes to stay
with his parents who live nearby. This enables Lizzie and John to
have a break. The family and Mike thoroughly enjoy the arrangement. |
